Even if you’re very happy with how your Chevy vehicle runs, you should know that there are ways to improve its performance. You can do this ordering these Chevrolet parts and getting them installed by the experts at Armstrong Chevrolet.
Turbo- or Supercharger
If you want to increase the power your Chevy offers, a turbocharger will do it. This part consists of a compressor and turbine that basically creates an air pump, boosting the horsepower your engine pumps out.
For even more muscle, consider a supercharger. It works very similarly to a turbocharger, but utilizes a belt-driven compressor, which helps to reduce lag while driving.
Camshaft
Another way for your car to generate more power is with a camshaft. Also called a bump stick, the camshaft is essentially a metal stick with bumps called cam lobes. These are instrumental in allowing air to get into and out of the combustion chamber by opening and closing the intake and exhaust valves at precise moments.
Depending on the camshaft you choose, you can add between 30 and 100 horsepower to your engine. Imagine what your already-powerful Chevy truck could do with 100 extra horsepower!
Cold Air Intake
Yet another way to add more ponies under your hood is with a cold air intake system. Your engine heats up when you drive, and a cold air intake system pulls cooler outside air into the engine. This allows a higher velocity of that denser air to get to your engine, thus bolstering its power.
While cold air intake won’t increase the power as much as the other options on this list, it can add five to 10 horsepower.
